This traditional "Edo Tsumami Kanzashi" (hairpin) is made from ultra-thin, pure silk habutae (4 momme, a unit of weight) woven using the "Nureyoko" technique, a traditional technique passed down from the Kawamata region of Fukushima Prefecture, and dyed in traditional colors using fabric specifically designed for tsumami zaiku. It is styled in the Katsuyama style, perfect for tying up a formal Japanese hairstyle on celebrations for 7th and 13th birthdays. A set of three: a front insert, a side insert, and a sagari.
