These traditional "Edo Tsumami Kanzashi" hairpins are made from ultra-thin, pure silk habutae (4 momme, a unit of weight) woven using the "Nureyoko" technique, a traditional technique passed down in the Kawamata region of Fukushima Prefecture, and dyed in traditional colors using fabric specifically for tsumami zaiku. The "tiered chrysanthemum" design, made with a sword-shaped tsumami technique, expresses powerful vitality with its delicate overlapping petals. This is a set of two, both adorned with gorgeous tiered chrysanthemums, and can be arranged in a variety of ways with added parts such as sagori and fliers.
